She's covered sports for some of the most prominent media across the globe. It was a long time covering the sport for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. In 2004, Nichols transferred to ESPN for a nine-year run during which she was awarded two Emmy Awards and appeared on several of the network's top frequented shows such as SportsCenter as well as NFL Countdown. She was also one of the networks' Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. Her next move was CNN after which she joined Turner Sports. Nichols worked for TNT as a reporter, reporting on NBA games that included playoffs, regular season and All Star shows. Nichols also worked for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is only the second nomination for the award for a female from the more than 200 nominees contenders.
